Last week, our class made 7 loaves of bread for our custodial and cafeteria staff. They stop at nothing to make sure our school is clean and our mouths our fed, so we decided to repay them. Making the bread was rewarding not only to us, but also to our staff. The recipe we used for the bread is included in my recipe tab. I look forward to continuing to repay our staff in the future.

This week, our class divided into four groups. My teammates (DJ, Emily, and Annie) and I were very eager to begin. Each group made a pepperoni pizza that was judged by teachers in our school. Overall, our pizza was ok. We got third place as a result of our dough being under cooked.
This week, our class made chili for our school's MACC tournament. We split into groups and made 4 different batches to blend into one. My group had a lot of fun, but cutting the onions and peppers really got water works going. According to our MACC coordinator, the chili was successful. You can find the recipe we used under my recipes tab.
In the past week, our class was put into groups and ordered to make Christmas cookies to sell to our student body. Everyone eventually made four different types of cookies, and the recipes for those cookies can be found here. Overall, the sugar cookies seemed to be the most successful with the students in our school. Making these cookies was a great opportunity to not only raise money for our program, but also bring our class closer together.
This week, our class made treats for our teachers in honor of Teacher Appreciation Week. We were divided into groups and assigned one treat per group. My group was assigned home-made blueberry muffins. Although we had some difficulty making the batter, the muffins turned out great, and our teachers loved them. We definitely showed some appreciation for our teachers.
This week we celebrated Halloween by preparing sweet and salty snacks to share with the class. When my teacher directed me to begin, I instantly knew what I wanted to make: popcorn balls. The recipe I used can be found under the "Recipes" tab above. After tasting my dish, I can conclude that my group and I prepared the popcorn balls well, and I'm looking forward to making them again. After all is said and done, it is evident that our Halloween party was a success.
My name is Seanna, and I am a student at Giles High School. This website is for a class I am currently taking- Food and Nutrition. In the class, one learns how to prepare food properly, along with nutritional facts about the food that he or she prepares. Throughout my school year, I plan to update this site and share the information I learn. I hope to help anyone who does not have same opportunity. |
